When do racial jokes get old?

Jew jokes get old when?
Black jokes get old when?
Asian jokes get old when?
Girl jokes get old when?

Actual Jew's, actual people, were burned and persecuted.
Actual Black's, actual people, were enslaved and persecuted.
Actual Asian's, actual people, were held in concentration camps and persecuted.
Actual Girl's, actual people, are held lower and society and are being persecuted.

etc...

Jokes do what?
Remind us of the hard times?

Sure... Sometimes they can be funny... If you're tolerable or you're just trying to fit in.
But an onlslaught day after day?
It gets annoying, and eventually offensive.

All those jokes are the equivalent if not worse than making jokes about 9/11.
People died.
And it wasn't to long ago.
What would happen if you said a 9/11 joke to a kid who lost his family in the towers?

All of them are inferiating at some point, but reacting to them only solidifies your stereotype or the position you were given by these "jokes".

On a personal note, they are offensive, and they do show the ignorence of the people I'm around and how unexperienced they are when it comes to world issues.
Like I said in earlier notes, people are self-surrounded these days, if they don't see it effect them, then they truly beleive it doesn't effect them.

The collection of people who transform Choe into the person who killed 32 others.
Or Choe himself?
Choe did have the option of not shoting those people,. but he didn't have the option of being persecuted.

I just don't want anyone shooting up my school for being picked on or anything.

People who look at this, and continue to believe this is nothing, you're ignorent, you haven't experienced or witnessed the above stated persecutions and troubles of certain types of individuals.

And of course this is going to get spread around and people are going to make jokes of me for writing this out. But for those who are spreading it in a negative manner, you couldn't do it, for various reasons.

you might be friends with some of the black kids, but I hardly imagine that you are simply friends with them so that you can make black jokes... It's seems like that with some of the kids at my school, that I simply exist as their friend for the joke

Ahh...se, I go to a school that is fairly tolerant of any racial or social-economic background [the tuition is still big, but there's financial aid].
I...haven't heard much racism going on with the students at our school. It's nice...and we have a "diversity day" once every year, where different groups [can be ethnic or just any group of any kind] get tables and set up booths and you walk around and look at different things, and then go to workshops where we learn about diversity and stuff.
Anyway. On racism. My English class recently got into a discussion about this. Xenophobia has a part to play in racism, though it has more to do with nurture than nature. What we were discussing was if constantly remindiong ourselves of the past and the things we have don was a good thing. Is it good to remember all the time how we enslaved Africans?
My personal response is no. I think it is good to not forget entirely, so we don't do something like that again...but reminding ourselves of this just makes the ethnic group stand out more, and so become even harder to normalize fully. And also, please, everyone remember that "racism" does not just mean black vs. white. I hear that a lot...people forget about all other racism often for some reason...

I don't know your friends exactly... but just a slight bit of a suggestion.
They may be blowing it off because they are your friend. But with persistent jokes, you could get on their nerves. (basically weekly jokes aren't very welcome,,, for me that is. I'm not trying to change you friendship or anything)

well, a person's a person, you cant base a religion off of a person, but mormons CERTAINLY are not racist.

i'm sorry you were called that though, that's really wrong. Alot of the kids in my church don't even use the lord's name in vain so, you know, it all depends on the person.

but yeah, we are pretty persecuted, for instance, when the church was first re-organized, there were decrees in certain areas that ordered the extermination of mormons, in other words, kill any mormon you see on sight.

Sorry i'm rambling its just that i'm really bothered by all the anti-mormon propoganda out there.

there's so much of it, more than most other religions in fact.
