yea, they are, but i'm using mp3 files. i'm making a guitar hero-ish game, and i have so many music files that the file size of it is like...50 MB, and it takes so long to load. thats why i was wondering about external file loading. i need some way to make the files smaller

What you're talking about is using resources, which is indeed a pro-functionality.

=D i think i found a good solution=) i'm using windows movie maker to convert the music to WMA format. i didn't think it would work with GameMaker, but it does....i just hope it works for the rest of the game though. if there's something that might be wrong with this, please tell me, thanks. and thanks everyone who actually tried to help

Most audio-programs (i.e. audacity) allow to modify the settings of the MP3. The size and quality of an MP3-file depend on the sample-rate (amount of dots that are stored). Just check the settings when you save the file as MP3, it should show something like 128MHz, or something. Visit www.trollsplatterer.be for some files I made to help people out. |
