This forum is meant for questions dealing with the YoYoGames site or this forum. An issue you are having might be solvable by a fellow member, so feel free to post about it.


Questions involving game development with Game Maker (How do I make my guy move, etc.) should be placed on the Game Maker Community. If you are not a member there, you will have to register. The GMC has its own set of rules and regulations, so be sure to read those before you post.

It isn't being used very much right now. Only a select few people have made the vast majority of posts here.

Once the site attracts a larger audience, users will have questions about how the site works and so on. That's what this forum is for.

Although GMC has forums dedicated to users answering programming questions, it's userbase is too big, and a lot of the times, the questions don't get answered. That's why people ask here, 'cause i've only had 1 unanswered post.

That doesn't change the facts.

Besides, what do you think is going to happen when more people decide this is a better place to ask their GM questions? Do you think maybe more and more questions will go unanswered? Then what are you going to do? Ask your GM questions in the Rules and Regulations forum instead, since that won't be used as much?

i don't see why yoyogames doesn't have a programming forum though.

i know GMC has one, but GMC has everything.

Ha, almost EVERYONE uses this forum for GM help, not site help...this area should be used for both though...gmc is cool too though.

Nailog does, but I think he's given up trying to stop people from using this section for GM-help.

Yeah, it looks like this forum has become just another questions forum. Nobody can read anymoer.

I think there should be a whole forum dedicated to gm questions... users of the forums typically are the ones making the games, so there should be an area for questions for the users.....

I do too, they should make a new subsection. That's the only way people are going to stop posting their GM-questions in this section or in "General Chat".

It was probably not the intention of yoyogames to make two parallel forums with the same purpose.
Yoyogames is meant for random talk and suggestions/help/info on the site.
GMC is meant for questions on GM and many ancient GM-specialsts dwell there.

But I just don't feel like going to the GMC and why would I send people with questions there if I know the answer myself?

They should either join the two forums or make a separate section for GM-questions in this forum.

Yes, I agree that they should let us have another forum for GM game making questions, or they should rename the forums. I PM a mod about something to get a knowledgeable response, jsut to be told that I have to go to GMC, which I have no means to do, as my email doesn't work... :(
