Ok, we all know (or if we don't then we're morons) that GM can be used in simple or advanced mode. Simple mode reduces the options to reduce the confusion for noobs. I kinda wish there was also an 'Expert' mode. This is how it would work: D&D in the object and timeline editors would be completely eliminated. Instead, it would just have an open code field like in the script editor.

Now I just thought of this idea because I'm lazy and don't appreciate having to drag the 'Execute Code' action into every single tab.

Idk, it's just an idea. What do you guys think?

Might be cool, though some people like to use more than one code action with D&D comments (as they stand out more). As an optional setting it might be good though.

interesting, but i'd prefer advanced mode for when I need to code.

The unreal is sometimes more real than it seems. I believe the impossible can be done with the right strategy. I know what stress is so never say i don't ok.

Well I'm at the level where I 99 percent of the time (at least that, if not all of the time) find it easier to code than D&D. And it would still be optional.

But it's just an idea, among hundreds...

if that were to happen I would never use Game Maker Again, except for in simple mode or simple mode or dead easy mode so I could do it any way I wanted and anything I wanted without programming some code into the game, I tried doing a script last night and It only gave me trouble and problems, quite a hard and complex script to program though, nut no errors except the actions were not performed when the event had been detected.

2 be honest with u 4 once OmegraKai it actually does sound stupid, dumb, pure annoying, just thinking about programming gives me nightmares.

Ivors going to pop back again for his opinion, a rare occurence but Id like to comment.

From what little I have seen of GM, I am of the opinion that OmegraKai is correct. GM claims to be aimed at all ages, yet its flagship site and product suggest otherwise.

From the dev-forums that I visit, there are very few people who know what GM is, and those that do are put off by a title that suggests a very limited piece of software.

I dont think rebadging GM would do any harm and I think a new more sensible name may make GM appeal to a wider audience, or atleast garner it a little more respect from the general hobbyist scene.

Finally:

Little request for everyone from this board. Can you stop using the word coder in regards to using GML. Nobody who uses a high level language "codes" a coder is the name reserved for assembly language users (although C++ users think that they have a right to use it also, and are just as guilty for using it)

Just a pet hate.

you would have something called "enigma" or gjava......

Now as for the idea: well I think it's bad, it would be even harder to explain everything since 1 thing might not be available for certain modes. Nah I would rather have it back like it used to be: only 1 mode, gamemaker is already that easy even the current "advanced" mode everybody should be able to understand after reading the manual!

Ok, it looks like if nobody else likes the idea, I'll just have to get over my laziness.

true a new name would be nice and rather fancy although it's the same product with more features made by the same company, well the games factory is already taken, and so is game builder, but game creator could slide, but it would be as pointless as the old name and it would be newer, hmm... better interface, more tools, more systems supported for both playing and creating games, so i'd say we need a vote or a debate, on this unless your ok with nuclear gaming factory, it gives it a more high tech like nuclear, super environment type feel with that sleezy name, or we could call it cheazy game factory, it be cheazy 4 sure, and attract a wide audience although what's your oppinion, any suggestions for a new name that's the best I can think of 4 now.
