Well I have a suggestion what if yoyogames puts on there website a way so the people entering a competition can't rate other competition games

so they could have a section to say what competition you're entering and you won't be able to rate the games in the selected competition until they annouce the winners

How would they know who is entering and who isn't? A lot of people don't submit their game until the last few days before the deadline.

There are also people who only decide halfway through the competition that they want to enter.

How would YYG handle that kind of thing?

I couldn't really explain it but they have this page and you click a button and you can't rate the competition games until it's over

QuoteHow would YYG handle that kind of thing?Smooth's idea is elegant and fair ... but if we were going to keep the current rating system and simply tweak it, then it's still possible.

On a technical level I wouldn't know how difficult it would be to implement, but all YoYo would have to do is treat contest games as special cases, and keep track of who gave ratings, and what their ratings were. That way, if someone enters the contest their ratings can be subtracted out of other contest submissions.

sort of what I meant
I was thinking it would set a varaible to 1
then when you click on the rating button it will check to see if it was 1
simple :)
I only know a bit of html but I know it can do that or if not javascript can defenitly do that

ok I did some research and this is what they could do

they could have a cgi script after the people fill in the form and write this code
in javascript
var rater=1;

now when they try to rate it
if (rater==0) //what ever they do for their rating system here
so no event takes place if it's = to 0

www.randomness.omgforum.net is a good website for slight spam and fun because it does not have strict rules about spamming! go on it and join!!

@game fun: this would make it so that users could not downrate the competition if they are in it themselves. everyone would downrate everyone elses games, and in the end you'd end up with a big mess, like what KingDK was doing with alternate accounts.
