We won our football game... 48-0
Quote So? Other than the transportation method of the ball, rugby is close to soccer.
Well, I don't care too much 'bout sports. That's why I make games. EDIT: <fixed a broken quotation>

Want your games reviewed?
You have the point there, SoulRed! Serious reviews are too scarce now, most of them is like this:
Quote
AWESOME GEM DUDE!!!!
Pros: EVREYTHING!!!!
Cons: NOTIHNG!!
Review Text: AMAZIN GAME KEEP 8 THE G00D WRK!
or like this:
Quote
PIECE OF CRAP!
Pros: NOHTING!
Cons: EVREUTING!!!
Review Text: YOU SHOULD COMMIT 3UICIDE!!!
A serious review is much more informative than the examples above. Is it moralic to Report reviews like this? That would make it easier to find the ones worth reading, but on the other hand, everyone has the right to state their opinion, however noobish... I'm in a little bit of moralic dilemma here.

I take it you're playing American Football aka Rugby? In European Football, aka Soccer, it's almost impossible to score 48-0 in the time limit even if you're playing against NO opponents...

Serious reviews, anyone? Ask nicely!
Yes, I know there are far too much review topics around, and I don't really want to make things worse at the YYG forums, but I also want to review games, but where to find them, so...
*gasp... deep breath*
Um, anyway, ask nicely and I will proably review your game seriously and completely, with a good description and motivation of the grade of every post, you know, like when a Gaming Magazine reviews games. I might even give comments! Anyway, feel free to discuss review topics, too!
(I've got the feeling that you will do that whatever I say ) :

The world should be pixelated! And peaceful!
And, yes, Jak HaK, a Crtl-Z for handdrawings is something I've been missing too. Perhaps also for dialogues?

Trying to make an arsenal of 50+ weapons, help?
Quote
I added poison needles as a secondary fire for the needlegun, and poison darts as a secondary fire for the blowgun.
Ah well, I'll just have to add Posion Newspaper as an item in one of mine games, then...
Anyway, I'll suggest a new weapon:
the Telescope Spear!
It works like a normal spear, but when using the secondary (um, not really fire, but...) it extracts to a lenght of 5 metres in a quick speed. This can be used to nab foes at a distance (literally, too, but then you nab them at a wall instead). It might also be used to reach faraway crates, I guess. Like a hooksh... whoops, there went the orginality... Anyway, no crates then. Well, since it's a spear, it's not possible to turn i ncorridors with it. So you have to drop it to move on. Or throw it!
the Mirror Gas Grenade Launcher!
A normal grenade launcher, but the grenades releases a very special kind of gas: gas filled with very small pieces of mirrorglass! The pieces are small enough to stay airborne for quite some time. And they are able of reflecting laser beams! (laser is a kind of visible light, you know)Thus, anybody accidentaly breathing in the Mirror Gas will get damaged horribly a few seconds afterwards (this should make his/her air gauge fall quickly, if you plan to use one in the game, as the victims' respirating organs get cut apart of the glass. Then they suffocate.)
By the way,
Quote
What do you think? It would be just like a flair (I think thats what you call the metal ball thing that are attached to a stick by chains)
Why just not add a Flair then? And... i think it's called Flail, but I'm not sure (the name of it in Final Fantasy V Advance). It might also be Morning Star (Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening walktrough)or Ball and Chain (same series, Twilight Princess)

...Do you know what a magazine is? A magazine is a clip that you put in the bottom of a handgun... so every gun is a magazine magnum???
Whatever, I'll think about putting poison weapons in...
English isn't my first language, so a little errata might sneak in. Anyway, in Tales of Phantasia (GBA), one of the Book-type weapons was 'Glossy Magazine', which was a... magazine, I guess (a object made by sheets of somewhat plastic paper). Anyway, magazine means 'shotgun clip' OR 'building in harbor made for storing stuff' in Swedish, and it means 'corner shop' in French, but since it meant 'a kind of newspaper without news' in ToP, i guessed it should work. (Yes, I learn my English from RPGs. Period.)

Not yet : (. But it's a good idea!
They could probably add DK Senior, aka Cranky Kong*. He was playable in that jetbarrel game. Or begin with 'old' characters instead of 'baby'. Hmm... adding 'baby Toadsworth' might be pushing the baby theme a little...
Anyway, speaking of retro stages, a few retro Rainbow Roads would be nice. The one from SNES and the one from N64.
Here's my list of favourite stages!
SNES:
1)Vanillia Lake 2
2)Rainbow Road
3)Koopa Beach 1
N64:
1)Rainbow Road
2)Choco Mountains
3)Toad's Turnpike
Gamecube:
1)Sherbet Land
2)Daisy Cruiser
3)Baby Park
GBA:
1)Ribbon Road
2)Cheese Land
3)Sky Garden
Wii:
1)Marple Treeway
2)Mushroom Gorge
3)Daisy Circuit
*Yes, he was the DK in the arcade, and in DK Country, he speaked about the time when 'he threw barrels at plumbers' and 'you were happy if you had a two-sprite walk'.

can i make a rpg?
Lemme put it this way:
http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/30701
All you need to do is to change sprites/tiles and add a few monsters, dungeons, story. Basically.

Space invaders type of game, wanna help with your ideas?
Coming up with a completely original idea is close to impossible, if you want to keep it close to the concept. But you can always steal ideas from a completely different genre of games. And nobody will notice, since you got to adapt the idea to the genre, and it will be completely different. Like, Limit Breaks from FF7 in SI: a super attack that gets charged up when your ship is damaged. (this of course needs a ship with HP instead of the classic arcade one-hit-kills) Anyway, how about the possibility to collect enemy ships as shields? The remains of the ships sticks to your ship, and can absorb a few bullets before vanishing. Or: the ship turns on a shield after ceasing fire for a second or two. This shield can absorb a few hits of bullets, and then needs you to fire before it can be deployed again. You can also add on to this with a shield gauge, and let the shield be button-activated: but using the shield drains the meter much faster than it's recharged. Or maybe have an energy gauge that goes down both by shooting and shielding. It recharges slowly, so you have to think before you shoot, not just hold down th ebutton and move.
Speaking of cherries, how about bonus stages where you have to collect fruit that nets points?

Four Stars
You know, I've actually been able to rate 'Lizardmen' twice, and I don't know why... maybe it's a secret trick downraters use to downrate games eternally? Well, that might explain the downgravitating of the good games? I've always tought that the top-ten games would've been invincible against downrating thanks to countless extatic votes, but they've all fallen down again... Varia, Return To Sector Nine, J20, Karoshi 2...
It seems that the only safe way to get players is to advertise your game in your signature and post a million of times... So that's what i do.

Hmm, baby link would be a baby, but young Link is seven years (I think, it was long ago since I last played Ocarina of Time...)
But why aren't there any old characters in Mariokart?

How about... the Magazine Magnum?
In Metal Gear Solid, Snake can use... certain kinds of glossy magazines to distract enemies. But how about a weapon that shoots posioned magazines? Everyone that accidentaly touches them get posioned by... neurotoxins! Or something like that. It could be good for distracting&dispatching CPU enemies, or to... lay traps next to a medkit! It could also have an add-on that enables posion bookshelves in houses with bookshelves, and then the books oozes out posion and makes the room (house room, not GM) posionous and lethal! Of course, you can only reload the MzM close to bookshelves.

.9 repeating is not EQUAL to 1... THe universe is digital not analog...
Well, if you tried to check 0.9#/0.9# on a calculator, it's gonna have a big window for the numbers ; )
Anyway, since there is no end on the 0.000000s you need to add an 1 at, you can't add an 1, because you could still add as many 0s as you want between the last 0 and the 1! so whenever you reach the last 0, you could still add as many 0s after it and still not reach the last one! That's the rules of infinity!
So, it's like this: 0.9# and 1 should logically not equal, but there are no way of proving it, since you can't come up with where 0.9# ends.
And, about the dark gray = black discussion... try placing a dark gray and a black T-shirt against a tree or something. Move backwards. Sooner or later, they'll look the same color (you might need to move backwards until nightfall though). Anyway, my point is, the further away you come from the difference, the smaller it is! It's the same with the 9#s and 0#s.

If 0.99999... is equal to 1, then 0.999.... ...998 is equal to 0.999...., and then 0 is equal to 1 if you just keep on going! So 0.999... can't be equal to 1!

However, there is that infinite .1111111111... difference
Sorry to be a little stingy, but it's a .000000... ...0001 difference. .9# + .1# would sum up to 1.1#, where the last digit is a zero (that means that you ignore it though, but it has one less digit than infinity (but infinity - 1 is still not a 'real' number (in the fashion that it can't be expressed with digits and calculation signs only) it doesn't really matter))
...um, anyway, I think that 0.9# is not equal to 1, but since when does you need to use infinite decimals for calculation? Anyway, the difference is so extemely small that it can just be ignored, like when you get 33.3 cent off when there's a 30% off sale and you buy something for one dollar.
Actually, the difference should be 0, since infinity * 0 is the only equation where infinity is multiplicated with something and turns out to a... concrete number. infinity * 0.5 is equal to infinity too, and 1/infinity turns out to 0 in practice, since you can keep chopping and chopping forever. But yet, in theory there are still a little little unit... (oh, I'm getting a headache...)

ALL GOOD GAMES:
I could proably interest you in Raduinis Arc:
http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/47861
an arcade game. That's what 'Arc' comes from, I guess.
And Return of Baron (Baron is a character by A_Penn)
http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/35330
Return of Baron is still in Beta phase, so help with finding bugs/glitches are always welcome!
And finally, a game not made by me, but always played and regarded upon as a... good game: Varia!
http://www.yoyogames.com/games/show/15191
Another wonderful space(?) shooter.

Ok, MarioKart Wii has been played trough... let's look at the sequel!
@Dinsdale: I've never actually tried snaking, and now when I know about it, I can't because you can't do it in Wii... : ( But if it's in the next game, I'll try to test it, so in one way, I want it back too! And who uses the auto mode anyway?
@oddball464: That would be nice, seven characters at once! And if Nintendo continues with the 'baby logic', you could actually get 14 characters out of them! Iggy Koopa, Baby Iggy, etc.
My suggestion with Link as a MarioKart character was maybe a bit shorter on characters, since you could only get 4 characters from using Link: Link, Young Link, Toon Link and Baby Link. Anyway, wouldn't it be nice of Nintendo to include Snake and Sonic in the next game? A Green Hill Zone racertrack could be quite interesting, but which levels from Metal Gear and Legend Of Zelda could be made to racetracks?

OK, everybody! You probably like Mariokart games, since you chose to read this, so let's share our toughts about the upcoming game! (Games that sell always have sequels). Which new racetracks do you want to see in it? And which Retro racetracks! Where are ol' good Kalamari Desert and Vanillia Lake 2? Which new characters? If it continues like this, we'll have a baby version of everybody - including Funky Kong - playable! Why can't, e.g. Link join the game? (not for timeline problems, I guess, since baby Luigi has been able to race his future self quite the time now). Anyway, what do you think and wish about the sequel?

some good ideas for a platformer
Since when did platform games need to have plots? That's what we got RPGs for... ; )
Anyway, to answer the question you asked in the top of this page:
the hero <name here> is on a quest to save <name 2 here> from the evil <name 3 here>. He must pass these land to reach the castle of the bad <name 3 here again>: Grass Land, Desert Land, Sea Land, Forest Land, Snow Land, Sky Land, Lava Land and Ghost house Land. His(well, most heroes are men in games... not really fair out of an feministic perspective) main tools are golden stuff that gives a (green-colored) extra life when you collect 100 of them. He also can eat red food (like, mushrooms) to power up, and equip a raccoon suit to fly.
A really unique plot, right? Well, that's what we tought in 1992.

i need some good ideas for games
Hmm... how about "Golf and Goblins"? Half RPG, half sport genre. You fight monsters who try to inveade the clubhouse, because of some 1000-years-old ruins or something like that... I got that inspirstion by playing Mario Golf Advance, because it use the same owerworld engine as Golden Sun. And when I found a 'power drink' in a barrel i had a really laughing-out-loud moment ;) But MGA has too few random battles for my taste : (

How do I do this with "if sprite index="
add this actions in the jump button's event:
<> if variable "sprite_index" has the value "spr_character_right"
{start of a block
[]set variable "sprite_index" to value "spr_character_jump_right"
}end of a block
<>else
{start of a block
[]set variable "sprite_index" to value "spr_character_jump_left"
}end of a block
note: the "s are there to show where the values you imput are. Don't use the "s in the actual text imput. And use the names of the sprites you have in your game as values, not necessarily the ones I used.
